10 Years Forging Real Estate Leaders

Ten years ago, the Master of Science in International Real Estate program was established with a clear mission: to provide graduates with the vision and skills to become leaders in an increasingly global real estate market.

Today, that mission is realized via a program that has grown to national prominence and is shaping the next generation of real estate leaders. Leaders who are empowered with research-based knowledge to solve complex problems in contemporary real estate. Leaders who understand how to use limited resources to finance and create dynamic urban landscapes. Leaders who will leave a legacy of positive and lasting impact on the world's built environment. Leaders with the courage and confidence to rise to any challenge.

2005

The FIU School of Real Estate establishes the Master of Science in International Real Estate program

2006

MSIRE awards its first Jerome Bain Endowed Scholarship

2006

The MSIRE program graduates its first class of 12 students

2007

MSIRE partners with CCIM Institute in the University Fast Track program; students earn credits toward CCIM designation

2011

MSIRE launches distance learning and class capture courses

2012

MSIRE launches the program in a fully online format, and the first online cohort begins

2012

FIU creates the Tibor and Sheila Hollo School of Real Estate, in honor of a gift from one of Miami's leading developers

2012

MSIRE establishes dual degree partnership with Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala City

2013

In their first national contest, the MSIRE team wins third place in ARGUS Software's University Challenge, ahead of NYU, Wharton and Columbia

2013

The Glenn Rufrano Family ICSC and Urban Land Institute (ULI) endow graduate scholarships were established

2014

MSIRE establishes the The Malcolm Butters Real Estate Award, in honor of an endowed scholarship from Malcolm Butters (MSRE '83)

2015

Another impressive third place win at the ARGUS Software's University Challenge

In response to a thriving program, the graduate department grows to five full-time faculty

FIU's Master of International Real Estate program is designed to prepare students to become industry leaders. It is the only master's program to combine the mastery of real estate fundamentals with a true international focus. The curriculum covers all aspects of domestic and global real estate transactions, including finance, law, real estate development, risk, and marketing. World-class scholars, researchers and practicing real estate professionals bring their expertise to the classroom. Students become members of the real estate community through internships, mentorships, professional organization memberships, and career placement services.
