WHAT WE DO

The CBA Classroom Support Group provides the CBA community the following services:

  • Support and maintenance of two main Business Computer Labs, in RB 150 and GL 265.  The two labs have 46 and 45 workstations, respectively.  Nine (9) more workstations are available for continuous student use in RB 160.  Our work includes software installation, hardware maintenance, and lab assistant support.  This support also encompasses security, instructor support, and hardware and software maintenance.  The main Business student lab, RB 160, is open from 8:30AM to 11PM during the week, (10PM on Fridays) and 8AM to 6PM on Saturdays.  We are closed on Sundays.
  • Pay-printing support for our Labs, RB 160 & 150, and GL 265.  We also offer copy services and color printing in RB 160.
  • Support and maintenance of 11 electronic classrooms.  These rooms are equipped with a desktop PC, DVD/VCR, projector, and wireless, and are located in the RB, PC, MARC, ECS, and TC buildings.  We also provide assistance for those Business faculty and staff that are assigned to other electronic classrooms around campus as requested.
  • Individual instructor and student laptop support as needed.  We directly support FIU and Business-licensed software, wireless Internet access, and laptop peripherals for faculty and staff FIU-issued laptops, as well as graduate student laptops.  This includes software installation and troubleshooting.
  • Management and maintenance of 7 laptop loaner PCs, 3 loaner projectors, and various other audio-visual equipment that is available for loan to Business faculty and staff.
  • Technology support for special seminars, lectures, and presentations, such as semester orientations, graduate and undergraduate open houses, Strategic Market Orientation seminars, OPE symposiums, and videoconference meetings.
  • Syllabi Support for all Business Faculty, facilitated by our central email address for syllabi, syllabisupport@business.fiu.edu.   This includes the procurement, management, and web-posting of each professor’s class syllabus on http://business.fiu.edu, both at the graduate and undergraduate levels.  We further support these instructor’s syllabi during the semester as needed, i.e. posting of PowerPoint lectures, supporting documents, charts, or journal articles as per professor request.
