State Farm Financial Literacy Lab
The State Farm Financial Literacy Lab is a 2,200 square-foot state-of-the-art trading, research, and teaching facility. It houses 50 high-end, networked, workstations with dual-screen monitors and is equipped with advanced audio/visual systems, plasma screens and a ticker tape with real-time data from fixed income, equity, and foreign exchange markets. Televisions broadcast live news from stations such as Bloomberg and CNBC. The State Farm Financial Literacy Lab hosts an extensive collection of financial analysis software and real-time data feeds from partners like Bloomberg, Reuter’s, Vhayu, Kyriba, Salesforce.com, Thomson, Crystal Ball and TraderX.
The purpose of this facility is to provide hands-on learning experiences for our students in professional software applications and tools using electronic sources of financial, marketing, and investment data. This facility provides data and information technology resources not only for finance courses, but also for a variety of disciplines, including accounting, marketing, decision sciences, international business and IT. The State Farm Financial Literacy Lab is operated by an academic director, a technology director, clerical staff and interns.
With the addition of our State Farm Financial Literacy Lab, the College is better able to prepare students for the strong job market in financial services and the ever-changing technological landscape in today’s corporate world.
