One event brings two awards to the FIU accounting community.
At the recent XXIX Interamerican Accounting Association (IAA) conference held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Florida International University (FIU) received the Fra Luca Bartolomeo Paccioli award.
According to Eduardo Mendez (MS’ 01, BA ’96), president of the Cuban American CPAs Association and Foundation, the prestigious award is named after the 15th-century Italian mathematician, who is dubbed the “father of accounting” and is credited as having invented the modern-day double-entry system.

Cuban-American CPA Association hosts Scholarship Night award event at FIU
“Awarding scholarships to high achievers working hard toward their accounting degree is the highlight of our year,” said Hector E. Aguililla (MACC ’03, BACC ’01), president of the Cuban-American Certified Public Accountant Association (CACPA) at the organization’s 2012 Scholarship Night awards dinner on January 24, 2012.

The School of Accounting Entrance Exam is required to register for upper division accounting major courses.

The School of Accounting in the College of Business at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, is committed to excellence, integrity, teamwork, and lifelong learning.

Our accounting students also have many opportunities to become involved in the life of the business school through our student organizations ALPFA and Beta Alpha Psi, including the FIU Accounting Association. And, as alumni, they will be able to join our School of Accounting’s Alumni Affinity Council, offering plentiful opportunities to interact with other graduates as well as accounting professionals in the region.
The college offers a variety of scholarships to help students fund their education and prepare for the next evolution in their careers.
