New undergraduate professional development center helps you make the most of your business education.

Clifford R. Perry, associate dean, Landon Undergraduate School of Business.

Regardless of the course or area of study, every student needs a little extra help sometimes.

When the new business building complex opens later this year, the undergraduate professional development center will be up and running, ready to offer undergraduate students the support they need to bolster their learning skills.

“The center is all about learning,” said Clifford R. Perry, Landon School associate dean, who is driving the design and development of the center. “Our goal is to encourage student learning and to keep our students enrolled and engaged in their coursework.”

The center will focus on knowledge acquisition related to core course material. Students can choose from team tutoring programs, special study sessions and workshops, web-based group instruction, and independent self-directed study projects—all designed to help them succeed with the core coursework required to receive an undergraduate business degree.

A full-time director with what Perry describes as a “passion for learning” will be onsite at the center to coordinate and facilitate all activities.

Support is tailored to the way you learn.

“The learning process varies from student to student,” Perry said. “That’s why we are creating a customized development plan for learning that matches each student’s learning style. Simply put, we will be helpping students learn how to learn.”

Students who come to the center will have access to self-help learning resources to improve study methods and time management skills as well as sharpen problem-solving and test-taking techniques.

The center doors are open to all undergraduate students.

“We encourage any undergraduate student who needs extra assistance to visit the new center,” Perry said. “If they feel they need to improve learning skills and want to make the most of their college learning experience, we will be there for them.”
