Career Fairs and information sessions abound.
If you’re looking for a job or an internship, get to know the people in Career Services. They’ll point you to ways you can connect with companies that are looking for employees or who can meet with you to tell you more about what they offer. The college’s career services consultants also will point you to ample chances to network with employers or apply for on-campus interviews. Plus, they have an array of services that can help you become interview-ready. Check out http://www.fiu.edu/%7Ecareer/ regularly to stay on top of interesting events and services.
Conferences and career fairs draw many companies and organizations.
The Federal Government Statewide Conference took place on February 21, 2007, from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. in the Graham Center Ballrooms. Seventeen federal agencies signed up to attend. In addition to presentations on scholarships, tuition reimbursement programs, and paid summer internships, the event offered opportunities to speak with field specialists from federal agencies. There were also special breakout sessions, one of them for those in business administration or accounting. This is the second time the event has taken place at the university and in the United States. It was a huge success last year and was again this year.
On February 28, 2007, the Biscayne Bay Campus Career and Internship Fair will take place in the Wolfe University Center Ballrooms from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. More than sixty companies and organizations are expected to attend.
On March 2, 2007, the Chapman Graduate School of Business’s Office of Career Management Services is hosting a National Society Hispanic MBA (NSHMBA) hiring event from 10:00 a.m-3:30 p.m. in the Graham Center Ballroom. Organizations interested in seeking MBA/MS talent (interns and permanent employees) within the next nine months have been encouraged to participate.
Information sessions provide in-depth details.
Throughout the semester, a number of companies will be on campus to conduct interviews or provide information to students:

New program brings special benefits to job-seekers.
The newly launched Executive Protégé Initiative (EPI) is open to all students who are interested in furthering their career development. Office Director Lenroy Jones will facilitate all workshops. Some of the topics covered are intermediate and advanced interviewing skills, ways to negotiate your salary, and networking. EPI students also will be able to enter career fairs earlier.
