Executive Dean Elam's luncheons for student leaders provide opportunities for all to network and learn.

Executive Dean Joyce J. Elam hosted a luncheon in the Faculty Club's Blue Room on September 27 for those unable to attend a Student Leaders Appreciation Barbeque at her home the following weekend.

One of the favorite parts of Executive Dean Joyce J. Elam's job is sharing time with students, a pleasure she said she doesn't get to indulge often enough. But this Fall, she organized not one, but two, luncheons as her way of saying, "thank you" to those who take leadership roles in the College's student organizations.

She invited eight students to join her for a formal affair September 27 in the private Blue Room of the Faculty Club. They included Michelle Granado and Monique Bardino of the new Real Estate Student Association; Ron Chinchilla of the International Business Honors Society; Michael Blanco, Jaime Gow, and J. P. Madariaga of Beta Alpha Psi; Rick Sant of the Chapman Graduate School Association, and Judy-Ann Allen of the American Marketing Association.

Five days later, she packed her Coral Gables back lawn with picnic tables and a barbeque spit to host more than 50 students, faculty advisors, staff, and University President Mitch Maidique. The Student Leaders Appreciation Barbeque , now slated to be an annual event, offered an opportunity for networking and personalizing relationships with students and the College employees who support them.
