CAREER TIPS & SERVICES

Several factors proved to be keys to success during fall recruiting season.

During this fall's recruiting season, College of Business Administration students were very successful in obtaining employment at a variety of reputable organizations. However, it is important to note that most of the students that were hired this Fall by the larger and more prestigious companies had a few things in common:

  • Students frequently were members of at least one academic society or honors fraternity.
  • Almost 80% of the students had some sort of face-to-face contact with the employer before they submitted their resumes. Frequently, that contact was at a recruiting event sponsored by an academic club or by FIU’s Career Services. Examples of these events were Johnson & Johnson at Career Services, Ernst & Young at FMA, and the Career Fair.
  • Almost 80% of the students were registered for Career Services and paid their student fee prior to the beginning of the recruiting season. It is important to remember that you need to be registered to participate in on-campus interviews at Career Services. To register, contact Michael Potoczniak in Career Services at 305-348-6752.
