For courses taken at other U.S. colleges or universities, equivalency is determined by our university’s admissions officers and faculty in the program for which you are applying.

We keep a list of evaluated transfer courses, called the Equivalency Database. You may consult this list for an idea of what courses may transfer.

Once you have been admitted, you should contact Undergraduate Student Services to start the process of determining equivalencies. Typically, you will not need to equate every course taken at the previous institution.

If the institution/course in question has not been evaluated by the college’s faculty, the student will need to provide a detailed description of the course content (including the texts used). A syllabus is usually sufficient. The description must be in English.  Translations must be done by a certified translator. Students cannot provide their own translations. Documents provided by the home institution in English are acceptable.

Undergraduate Student Services will assist the student in completing the Transfer Equivalency Request form and verify the information provided as well as the documentation.  Titles and course numbers must match.

The packet of information will be forwarded to the appropriate department for evaluation.  Normally, the packet is returned to Undegraduate Student Services within two weeks.  Students are strongly encouraged to make copies of all documentation submitted.

Students may check the progress of their requests via the Student Academic Support System (SASS) audit or the Equivalency Database.  You will learn how to read the SASS audit during your first or second advising session.
