Glen Kedzie is the American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) Vice President of Environmental Affairs & Assistant General Counsel. The ATA, a national trade association, serves and represents more than 37,000 motor carriers across the nation such as Federal Express and United Parcel Service (UPS). As Vice President, Glen manages ATA’s highly-respected environmental and energy regulatory practice to ensure the interests of its members are represented. He led efforts to develop the industry’s first sustainability plan that has the potential over the next 10 years to cut fuel consumption by more than 86 billion gallons, cut greenhouse gas emissions by 905 million tons, and result in fuel cost savings of more than $258 billion. Glen has a proven track record in directing efforts to influence federal and state legislation that affects ATA members. He played a key role in lobbying Congress to pass the $1 billion Diesel Emissions Reduction Act of 2005 to provide monies to clean up diesel engine emissions. Glen ensures that ATA and its affiliated organizations comply with federal and state laws and regulations governing their work. He directs efforts to influence federal and state regulations. Under his leadership, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other federal and state agencies have modified numerous regulations thereby protecting the interests of both motor carriers, the public, and the environment. Such regulations include EPA’s recent rule cleaning up the nation’s diesel fuel supply and reducing emissions from new diesel engines to near-zero levels. Prior to ATA, Glen served as Counsel to the National Paint & Coatings Association where he served as a lobbyist and provided legal advice to the association on regulatory enforcement and compliance matters. In his capacity he was instrumental in successfully defending class-action lawsuits brought against the industry over use of lead-based paints saving member companies billions of dollars. Glen holds B.S. degrees in Urban & Regional Planning, Geography, and Cartography & Geotechniques from the University of Wisconsin, along with minors in Economics and English. He completed his post-graduate work in Environmental Planning at the University of Wisconsin and received his J.D. degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law. Glen has been the recipient of numerous awards including an Environmental Excellence Award from EPA in 2007 for his leadership and creativity in developing non-regulatory solutions for reducing air pollution and greenhouse gases in the trucking industry and the prestigious EPA Silver Medal Award for his efforts in settling nationally-precedential enforcement cases. Glen has practiced in the area of environmental, energy, and administrative law for nearly 20 years. |
