Dr. Walfried M. Lassar, Dipl.-Ing. College of Business Administration |
Dr. Lassar joined Florida International University in August 1998. He previously taught and researched at London Business School, the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University, the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire, and the University of Miami. He earned his Ph.D. and MBA degrees from the University of Southern California in 1992 and 1985 respectively. A native of Germany, Dr. Lassar also earned the equivalent of a master's degree (Dipl.-Ing.) with a double major in mechanical engineering and business administration from the Technische Universität Berlin in 1984. Equipped with a 13-year business background, Dr. Lassar has served in various marketing and management positions in the U.S. and in Europe. As a marketing director for Howell Computer Company, he led the Santa Monica-based firm's expansion into the German market. In Germany, he worked for Procter & Gamble GmbH, Frankfurt; McKinsey & Co., and the Arbeitswissenschaftliches-Forschungs-Institut GmbH, an engineering consulting firm in Berlin. Most recently, as a management consultant to United Research Company, Inc., Morristown, New Jersey, he conducted strategic client analyses for major international corporations and U.S. Fortune 500 companies. Dr. Lassar continues to consult for U.S. and international clients in the areas of Brand Management, Distribution Strategy, Services Marketing, and Market Entry Strategy. Dr. Lassar's research interests include marketing strategy in channels of distribution, brand equity issues, and services marketing. His research projects frequently deal with international dimensions of marketing and distribution strategy and integrate e-commerce aspects of competition. His research has been published in the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Business Logistics, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Journal of Business Ethics and the Strategic Management Journal. |
