Pre-Licensing Healthcare Risk Management Certificate Program

This certificate program, which is the only face-to-face program in South Florida approved by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), prepares you to work in settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, healthcare agencies, and private health organizations by enhancing your skills in: HIPAA, Federal and State Regulations, Claims Management, Risk Reduction, and more. Divided into 13 Saturday only units of 8 hours each, the program can be completed in just four months. Upon completion, you will be awarded a certificate from FIU.

After receiving your certificate, you may then obtain your license from the State of Florida, Risk Management Division, after submitting an application and meeting all the eligibility criteria of the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). You are advised to contact AHCA in Tallahassee at (850) 245-4444 for updated information regarding eligibility requirements for State licensure before registering for the program.

Tuition

The program fee of $1,395.00 all inclusive, instructional materials, and certificate of completion from FIU. The fee is subject to change and is payable in advance.

Classes are held at the Modesto A. Maidique Campus, located at 11200 S.W. 8th Street, Miami. This location is convenient and easily accessible from the Florida Turnpike and the S.W. 8th Street Exit. Directions

Once you have registered, you will receive an email confirming your place in the program.

Registration and Withdrawal Policies

Payment Policy: Program fees are due in full upon acceptance into the program.

Substitution Policy: Qualified substitutes for participants can be accommodated with advance written notice.

Withdrawal Policy: Due to costs associated with establishing, holding, and replacing participant slots, the following guidelines will be implemented:

  • 1 week prior the program: the participant will be charged 50% of the program fee.
  • 2 - 4 weeks prior the program: the participant will be charged 25% of the program fee.
  • The remainder of the above mentioned will be transferred to another program upon receipt of written notice.
