Dr. Jerry Haar, Director

Whether in the arts, sciences, business, engineering, or humanities, Entrepreneurship at FIU adds value to every discipline and enhances the creativity and innovation of students, faculty, staff, and alumni. In addition to facilitating course development throughout FIU, the Center fosters new technology firms, strengthens existing family-owned and managed firms, researches important issues, encourages new community enterprises to improve the economic vitality of South Florida and the Americas, and develops entrepreneurial leaders in all areas.
The Pino Center’s mission is to create entrepreneurial leaders and organizations in all segments of society, throughout South Florida and Internationally.
The Pino Center provides the FIU community of students, alumni, and professionals with the knowledge and contacts that enable them to reach their entrepreneurial objective of designing and launching successful new ventures based on innovative concepts.
Our vision is to be a recognized international leader in entrepreneurship research, education, and outreach, as well as to be ranked among the nation’s top entrepreneurship centers.
The Pino Global Entrepreneurship Center is focused on four guiding principles:
- International: to work with companies seeking to co-venture with emerging companies in Latin America and South Florida, leveraging the geographic significance of South Florida as the Gateway of the Americas
- Innovation: to leverage cutting edge technology and management strategies
- Inflection Point: to help take organizations to the next level
- Involvement: within FIU’s sister units and external partners
