WebBoard

Purpose

This document describes the procedure for logging on to CBA discussion forums and chat rooms using Web Board.

NEW USER LOGON (You MUST do this first):

Type the following address in your browser:

http://cbaboard.fiu.edu:8080/~boardname

(Note: boardname should be replaced with your Professor's name. For example, if your Professor is John Doe, you should type: http://cbaboard.fiu.edu:8080/~doe

• You will see a welcome page.
• At the bottom of the page, click the New User Button
• This will take you to a screen titled "New User Information"

Please fill out the required fields.

• Login Name (In this field, type your desired LOGIN name This is how you will be identified)
• First Name (Type your first name)
• Last Name (Type your last name)
• Email Address (Type your email address)

Once you have filled out these 4 fields, click on the Create Button

You will then see the following message:

Welcome (Your Name)!

This board requires email address verification. An email message with your temporary password has been sent to the email address you specified (your email address).

You will need to use this password to gain access to this board.

Once you login, you can change your password, but not your email address.

Note: You must login within 24 hours or this user name and password will expire.

Once you receive this message, you need to check your email at the email address you specified to obtain your password and login to the board.Login to the board by going to: http://cbaboard.fiu.edu:8080/~boardnameEnter your username as your nameEnter your password (the one specified in the email you received)

EXISTING USER LOGON

If you already have a username and password, enter it at the logon screen.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD

Once you have logged on successfully, to change your password:

• click on the button that says "More" at the top of the screen and then
• click "My Profile" to make the necessary changes
• Go to the Bottom of the screen and click SAVE to Save Changes.

ACCESSING THE DISCUSSION BOARD

Once you have successfully logged on to the Board, you can post or reply to messages, by clicking on your appropriate class and selecting the appropriate choices to either post or reply to a message.

ACCESSING CHAT

To access the Chat Rooms,click on the chat button at the top of the screen and select your class. Then, login with the same "login" and password that you used to access the Discussion Board.
