Q.

What is the Global MBA/MS Career Conference and how do I participate?

A.

The Global MBA/MS Career Conference takes place once a year in the fall and is available only to foreign national students. The event invites companies that are accepting international candidates for two interview days and a small career fair for students. This is a great event for select students, to gain direct access to leading international employers. http://www.careerconferences.com.

What is the difference between an internship and a co-op position?
A co-op position involves close to two years of work experience during your academic career. You are required to rotate between a forty hour week semester and a full-time student semester in order to complete a co-op. Most co-op opportunities are for undergraduate students. International graduate students and alumni interested in gaining relevant work experience should consider an internship for a short term, project-oriented assignment.

Q.

Why is it so difficult for international students to find companies to sponsor them in the U.S.?

A.

The job search for international students often can be much more challenging than that for domestic students. This situation arises because of a different recruiting and employment environment than in one's home country and from the limited number of employers in the U.S. who will hire international students for positions with their firms.
