In this role, she is responsible for managing the company's insurance distribution businesses in the region, which consists primarily of accident, life, hospitalization, credit protection and travel coverage marketed to American Express Card members. Hondal was most recently Vice President and General Manager for American Express' International Dollar Card in Latin America and the Caribbean, which spans 43 geographic markets, and the consumer card business in Puerto Rico. She has extensive experience in managing partnerships, marketing and finance. She joined American Express in 1992 in business planning and financial analysis and subsequently joined the regional headquarters Finance organization. Prior to her appointment as General Manager in November 1998, she held the position of market Chief Financial Officer. Before joining American Express, she was employed by Barnett Bank of South Florida (now Bank of America) as a Corporate Lending Officer.
