Fees

The fee for participating in the ADBA program varies each academic year and is subject to change at any time. You should check with our office for the most current fee information.

For the 2007-2008 school year, the fee is $16,000. Once you are accepted into the program, you must submit a deposit of $2,000 within (30) thirty days of the date on your acceptance notification letter in order to secure your place in the class. The initial payment is totally refundable up to 60 days before the start of that class. Should you elect to withdraw from the program within 30 to 59 days of that program class' start date, you will be entitled to a 50% refund. No refunds will be given to students who withdraw from the program within 30 days of the class' start date.

You may pay your fees by check or credit card. Financial aid may be available for Florida residents. International students are not eligible for U.S. federal or state financial aid.

International Student Requirements

All international student applicants must meet the international student admission requirements of Florida International University as well as the requirements for acceptance into the ADBA program. The university's requirements are described in the university's Admissions' website. These requirements include securing all proper documentation for entering the United States and for participating in graduate study at this university. International students also will be required to declare and certify their financing for participation in the program and to fulfill all medical insurance requirements.

International student applicants should visit and become familiar with the policies governing international students as well as the support services available to them. To learn about these policies and services, please visit the Office of International Students and Scholar Services' site or call the office at (305) 348-2421 for the most current information.

Among the topics covered on this web site are the processes and requirements for securing legal international student status, declaring finances, and securing the mandated medical insurance. Some key points are summarized below.

  • Declaration of Finances

The university is required by immigration authorities to check carefully the financial resources of international applicants before admitting them to the program and issuing them the appropriate documents (Form I-20) to participate. Therefore, it is important that all applicants be aware of the cost of participating in the program and have the necessary support and funding for their period of enrollment. The total funds available for the student for the entire program must equal the total estimate of institutional costs and living expenses for the duration of the program. The estimate of costs for 2007-2008 is as follows: fees are $16,000; maintenance (includes room, board, clothing, transportation, and incidentals) is $16,000; and medical insurance is $1,700, for a total of $33,700. Please make sure to provide sufficient proof of funds for at least this amount.

  • International Student Status

International students must secure F-1 status before the start of the program, unless they are in another non-immigrant status which permits full-time study.

In order to verify your ability to comply with the financial declarations previously described, you must complete and return the Declaration and Certification of Finances form.

It is critical that you complete the form accurately to avoid unnecessary delays in processing. Once the university has verified that you have met its and the program's admission requirements, has fully-admitted you into the program, and has approved your Declaration and Certification of Finances, it will issue you a "Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Students" (Form I-20).

As an international student, you must have a Form I-20 in order to secure F-1 status and participate in the ADBA program. You must secure an F-1 Visa from the U.S. consular post in your home country in order to enter the U. S. as a student on F-1 status. This Visa is an entry permit; it cannot be obtained in the United States since F-1 visas can be issued and renewed only at a U.S. consular post abroad.

  • Medical Insurance

The State of Florida requires that all international students in F- or J- status maintain health insurance coverage to help defray the costs in case of a catastrophic medical emergency. The policy must provide specific levels of coverage which have been established to ensure that they are adequate for U. S. health care services. As an international student in the ADBA program, you are required to purchase this insurance through Florida International University or to demonstrate that you have comparable coverage. The cost of this insurance is always subject to change.

Important: The cost of this insurance is not covered by the program's fees. For the most current information, you should call the Office of International Students and Scholar Services (305) 348-2421, visit the office's website.
