DSIS Certificate in Project Management

This certificate program offered by the Department of Decision Sciences and Information Systems is designed to offer business students the opportunity to complement their major field of study with an additional concentration in project management. Students will take a coordinated series of courses and receive a certificate that signifies their knowledge in this area.

Students completing the Certificate in Project Management will have coursework in operations management, enterprise information systems management, and a variety of topics relating to project management. With this background in addition to a major field, students can gain the knowledge and skills needed to effectively utilize an organization’s data to improve both strategic and tactical project management, to improve the organization’s growth and profitability.

To obtain a certificate in project management, students must complete six of the following courses (18 credit-hours) with a minimum grade of ‘C’ in each course:

Four required courses (12 credit-hours):

  • Operations Management (MAN 4504)
  • Productivity and Project Management (MAN 4583/4584)
  • System Analysis and Design (ISM 4113)
  • Enterprise Information Systems (ISM 3153)

Plus any two of the following courses (6 credit-hours):

  • Systems Management (ISM 4151)
  • Business Leadership (MAN 4711)
  • Human Resource Management (MAN 4301)
  • Leadership (MAN 4164)
  • Crisis Management (MAN 4064)
  • International Risk Assessment (MAN 4613)
  • Managing Virtual Teams (MAN 4120)
